Welk Theater San Diego has Pirates, Win a Role in Footloose, and Rachel Earnest Hosts FundraiserThe Welk Resorts has some exciting events coming to Escondido! THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE starring Broadway veteran Sue Goodman, Randall Dodge, Richard Bermudez, Karenssa LeGear and Bart Williams opening March 11, 2010. Pirates of Penzance is the classic Gilbert & Sullivan comic operetta that feels like a slapstick, uproarious musical. Breathtaking voices are featured in this romp through life by swashbuckling pirates, beautiful maidens, a doddering old Major General and bumbling police. Pirates of Penzance runs March 11 - May 2 (No TUESDAY shows) and is directed and choreographed by Ray Limon WIN A ROLE IN THE WELK RESORTS PRODUCTION of FOOTLOOSE. This talent competition at the Welk Resorts Theatre will award one talented performer a role in the exciting new live production of FOOTLOOSE, the Musical opening in May, 2010 and running 8 weeks. Competition is Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Welk Theatre. AWARD WINNING FILMMAKER Rachel Earnest Hosts Fundraiser for Feature Film. The event will include a screening of Ms. Earnest's award winning short film "Le Retour". A film heralded by Trevor Groth, the Director of Programming at the Sundance Film Festival, as "intelligent, emotional and truthful, and brilliantly captures that bittersweet feeling of leaving an exotic place and returning to the more mundane, familiar world of home."
