Welk Resort Theater San Diego Announces New Shows for Q1 2010

ESCONDIDO, CA (January 5, 2010) -- The Welk Resorts Theater in San Diego, CA announces it's first quarter show lineup for 2010: Steel Magnolias starring Cathy Rigby and Michael Learned, Vicki Lawrence and Mama - A Two Woman Show, I Do I Do, and The Pirates of Penzance.

Running January 7th - 24th with Tues/Wed/Thurs/Sat and Sun matinees at 1pm (NEW TIME in 2010) with brunch buffet beginning at 10:30am and Tues/Thurs/Sat evenings at 8pm with 6:00 buffet.

Michael Learned is a four-time, Emmy award-winning actress, three for "The Waltons" and one for "Nurse." She has a People's Choice Award and has been a three-time Golden Globe nominee. On stage, she recently starred with Tom Bosley in the national tour of On Golden Pond and in Lewis Black's One Slight Hitch.

Cathy Rigby earned a Tony nomination when she starred in the 35th Anniversary production of Peter Pan on Broadway. Subsequently, her multiple talents have been lauded on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre as the Cat-In-The-Hat in Seussical the Musical.

Also starring Emma Fassler, Christa Jackson, Amy Sloan and Rosina Reynolds. Directed by Brian Kite, this production was co-produced with McCoy Rigby Entertainment and the La Mirada Center for the Performing Arts.

Running February 4 - Mar 7 (No TUESDAY shows) features Robert Yacko (Broadway /Tour: Fiddler on the Roof (w/ Herschel Bernardi); Off- Broadway: Oh, What A Lovely War!, LA & Regional: Parade (Mark Taper) A Little Night Music (Doolittle Theater) and Christina Saffran Ashford (Broadway: Singin' in the Rain (Kathy Seldon, cast album), A Chorus Line (Maggie), Sophisticated Ladies (Shoo Shoo), Drood (Rosa Bud/Edwin Drood), The Music Man (Zaneeta).

The Pirates of Penzance

In March, the Gilbert & Sullivan classic The Pirates of Penzance is back under the direction of San Diego favorite Ray Limon! Run dates are March 11 - May 2.
